Pool design is becoming a bigger part of how Avoca Beach homeowners shape their outdoor areas. The right style can influence comfort, maintenance, entertaining, privacy and the overall feel of the backyard, especially when the pool needs to suit both the property and the coastal setting.
1. Plunge Pools For Compact Backyards
Plunge pools continue to attract homeowners looking to make better use of smaller backyards without giving up the enjoyment of having a swimming pool. Their compact footprint leaves more room for entertaining areas, gardens and open lawn while still providing enough space to cool off, relax or spend time with family.
Modern fibreglass plunge pools can include generous entry steps, integrated seating and contemporary finishes that help them feel larger than their footprint suggests. Lower maintenance needs and efficient water use also make plunge pools appealing for households wanting a practical balance between lifestyle and upkeep.
2. Geometric Pools For Modern Homes
Geometric fibreglass pools remain popular because their clean lines suit contemporary homes, structured gardens and outdoor entertaining areas. Their simple shapes can work naturally with paving, decks, retaining walls and lawn areas, creating a backyard layout that feels organised without becoming too rigid.
Rectangular designs are especially useful because they offer flexibility for recreation, relaxation and exercise while making efficient use of available space. A strong geometric shape also allows the surrounding finishes and planting to support the pool design rather than compete for attention.
3. Resort-Style Pool Designs
Resort-style pool designs are popular with homeowners who want the backyard to feel more like a private retreat than a simple swimming area. The pool often becomes the centre of a broader outdoor setting, with paving, planting, lighting, seating and shade all planned around comfort and visual appeal.
A resort-style design can feel more relaxed when modern pool shapes are softened with natural stone finishes, layered greenery, mature planting and comfortable seating. This style works especially well where the goal is to create a space that supports entertaining, quiet downtime and everyday outdoor living.
4. Lap Pools For Active Households
Lap pools continue to appeal to homeowners who want a pool that supports regular swimming while still fitting comfortably within a residential backyard. Their long, streamlined layout suits narrower blocks and provides a practical option where the available width may limit other pool styles.
Modern lap pools no longer need to feel purely functional, especially when wide entry steps, built-in seating and refined finishes are included. The result can support fitness, casual swimming and relaxation within one simple pool shape.
5. Infinity Pools For Elevated Outlooks
Infinity pools suit properties where the land, view and outdoor layout can support a more striking pool design. The disappearing edge creates a visual connection between the water and the surrounding landscape, which can work especially well on elevated coastal blocks.
Minimalist finishes and carefully planned surrounds help the view remain the main feature while the pool adds impact to the overall outdoor area. This style is more site-dependent than other options, but the right property can achieve a strong result that suits Avoca Beach’s coastal character.
Choosing A Style That Suits Your Home
Selecting the right pool style comes from considering the property, the surrounding outdoor areas and the way the finished space should feel once everything comes together. A pool that suits the home’s layout, outdoor features and everyday use will usually feel more natural than a design chosen only because it is currently popular.
Electra Pools combines fibreglass pool installation with landscaping expertise, helping homeowners throughout Avoca Beach create outdoor spaces where the pool feels like part of the complete backyard design.
